Bruno PR & Social is actively searching for an adept Public Relations Manager who possesses strong writing skills, strategic acumen, a collaborative spirit, exceptional organizational abilities, social media expertise, self-motivation, and resourcefulness. With 3-5 years of experience in the field, you will become a vital addition to our expanding team. Reporting directly to Nicole Bruno, the Founder and CEO, the chosen candidate will take on the responsibilities of media pitching, press release writing, sponsorship outreach, brand partnership coordination and management, PR campaign strategy development and execution, and the cultivation of relationships with media professionals and key stakeholders. Additionally, the Public Relations Manager will supervise the work of the Public Relations Coordinator, offering constructive feedback, guidance, and participating in critical mid/senior level meetings as needed. The Role

Type: 20/40 Hours Per Week

Compensation: $50K-75K per year or $25-36 per hour

Location: Los Angeles or NYC candidates preferred

Job Description:

  • Devise and execute on short and long-term PR plans outlining the goals, objectives, strategies and tactics along with a situational analysis, target audience, PR campaign ideas, and the process for evaluation and measurement

  • Write and edit various forms of content, including news releases, blog posts, social media updates, white papers, authored commentaries, professional bios, native content articles, presentations, and more.

  • Inspire and present creative ideas that push the boundaries and contribute to our overall PR strategy and PR Plan execution for strategies, tactics, activities and campaigns.

  • Develop editorial calendars and media kits for clients and monitor PR opportunities on an ongoing basis

    • Upon hire of PR Coordinator, the PR Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of editorial calendars and media kits, and managing and monitoring editorial calendar tasks and deadlines.

  • Prepare and maintain relevant media lists and build relationships with press contacts across local, regional, and national publications and media outlets

  • Pitch and secure media placements across various outlets, including but not limited to an event announcement, op-eds, bylined article, trend story, contributor article, expert commentary piece, profile features, editorials, podcasts, interviews, press mentions and quotes in articles, product reviews, broadcast TV spots, podcast guest appearances, speaking engagements, etc.

  • Prepare and distribute press materials, including press releases, talking points, fact sheets, and briefing documents, to clients and relevant media contacts.

  • Identify and leverage talent and their thought leadership in the center of important conversations related to the client’s mission

  • Develop comprehensive crisis communication plans to address potential negative situations swiftly and effectively across media and social media platforms

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, execution, and management of client events, ensuring they align with PR strategies.

  • Develop key messaging, thought leadership, campaigns, and programs related to client spokespersons, endorsements, and influencers.

  • Build and nurture relationships with media contacts, cultivating new connections and leveraging existing ones to benefit our clients.

  • Prepare monthly snapshots of media relations activities and share detailed quarterly PR progress reports that illustrate the overall metrics, status, results and outcomes of public relations efforts, and insightful takeaways and recommendations for future campaigns and/or outreach.

    • Upon hire of PR Coordinator, this role will be responsible for reviewing and providing approval on monthly snapshot and quarterly PR reports prior to submission to the client.

  • Measure the success of PR activities and campaigns by preparing AMEC Integrated Evaluation reports. Share insights and recommendations with clients to demonstrate the impact of our efforts.

  • Stay informed about industry trends that may affect our clients and provide strategic communication recommendations accordingly.

  • Oversee the PR team, review their work, provide constructive feedback, and guide junior employees and interns to success.

  • Lead and attend meetings to provide clients with ongoing PR activity reports and insights from measurement and evaluation reports.

  • Collaborate closely with our Social Media and Digital Marketing teams to ensure a cohesive approach to client activations.

  • Coordinate with internal team as necessary to streamline content and campaigns

  • Meet daily expectations by logging your hours in Gusto, updating project statuses and marking tasks as complete in ClickUp, and updating the founder and relevant team members on the status of tasks

  • Attend weekly team meetings and client meetings for your assigned client.

  • Schedule recurring monthly meetings with clients to discuss PR strategies and ideas, pitching status and results, opportunities, key updates, and feedback

  • Fulfill any other responsibilities or tasks as assigned by the organization.

    Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related discipline to provide a strong educational foundation for the role.

  • Proven PR Experience: Demonstrated working experience in public relations, with a preference for agency experience.

  • Campaign Success Record: A successful track record of designing and executing impactful public relations campaigns at local and national levels.

  • Media Relationships: Established strong relationships with local and national business and industry media outlets.

  • PR Software and Tools Proficiency: Familiarity with PR software and tools to streamline and enhance PR activities and campaigns.

  • AP Style Writing Mastery: Advanced knowledge and proficiency in AP Style Writing to ensure consistent and precise communication.

  • Writing and Editing Excellence: Exceptional writing and editing skills, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and persuasive content creation with strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills to maintain the highest level of written communication.

  • Communication Expertise: Effective written and interpersonal communication skills to engage with clients, media, and colleagues.

  • Client and Media Relations: Demonstrated skills in managing client relationships and nurturing media connections, with a strong account management ability.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and aware, understanding the nuances of different cultures and backgrounds.

  • Audience Engagement: Adept at providing support with crafting PR and social media campaigns that effectively resonate with diverse and multicultural audiences.
