Instagram Limits You Need to Know About in 2022

Increasing your activity on Instagram is a great way to boost engagement! To do this successfully and without getting flagged, it’s important to keep in mind the different limitations Instagram places on your account. Instagram has these limitations to avoid bots and spam accounts. Not following these daily limits could lead to your account receiving an action block or being deleted altogether. The best way to avoid this is by following their limits and guidelines. Don’t know about these limits? Keep reading! 👇

Instagram Limits for Established Accounts

Instagram limits are different for new users vs. users who have had an account for longer. Even as an established account, if you have too many interactions too fast, Instagram may think you’re a bot and block you. It’s best to wait 20-30 seconds between actions. Here are some other limits to be aware of:

Likes & Comments

  • 120 likes/hour

  • 300-500 likes/day

  • 200 comments/day

Follows & Unfollows

  • 10 follows/hour

  • 100-150 follows/day

  • Maximum: 7,500

  • 60 unfollows/hour

  • 150 unfollows/day

Combined Actions

Combined actions are a combination of how many likes, comments, follows, and unfollows you can do.

  • 500/day

Direct Messages

  • 50-70/day

Some extra tips for DMs. . .

  • Don’t send the same exact message to multiple people

  • Try creating different text versions of the same message

  • Personalize each DM

  • Reply to DMs in batches instead of all at once

Posts

There’s no limit here! It is best to space posts out, though, to ensure Instagram doesn’t mistake you as a bot. Here’s how many people you can tag:

  • Single Post: 20 accounts

  • Carousel Post: 35 people

To boost engagement more, you can use up to 30 hashtags per post!

There is no limit on deleting posts.

Instagram Limits for New Accounts

With a new account, you have to take extra caution because Instagram will want to ensure that you’re not a bot. You should wait 30-50 seconds between actions and you should avoid posting more than 5 times a day. Here are some additional guidelines and limits to follow:

Combined Actions

  • 500/day

Direct Messages

  • 20-50/day
